Video used to mean hiring a production company. Recording an hour or more of footage to end up with a minute or two of finished product, which might cost you several hundred or a few thousand dollars. Certainly this method is necessary for some situations and results in a dynamite presentation. I have a videographer that I work with and he does a phenomenal job. But with the widespread creation of online video the current theme is focused on consistency over perfection where you can grab the flip camera and record from anywhere.

If you are fortunate enough to be a full time writer you probably never see the inside of a suit or stretch against the confinement of pantyhose. If you fit in scribe time around the full time gig then ditch the suits and skirts because casual Friday is 24/7 in most instances with web video.
Try to keep your recorded clips to approximately one minute, definitely in the thirty second to two minute range. Be sure to add your name and email to continue the conversation and include your blog or web address to drive traffic to your sites.
One of the big benefits of online media is viral marketing, which is when a person views your video and passes it on to their network. The high speed of this type of referred endorsement is untouchable in traditional marketing. Again, video commerce comes into play here by embedding a share tab into the viewing space.
Video helps you to build and enhance your brand as a writer. Identify your company and each book by decorating your videos with your logo, colors, and personality. This can be accomplished within the screen shots and or inset in templates around the video depending on which service you use. Some video sharing sites, such as YouTube allow you to personalize your own channel.
Just like each textual masterpiece, every video provides you the opportunity for individuality by imprinting each one with your voice, style, opinions, and image. Authors are like snowflakes. Each one is different and online video gives you another method of standing out in the sea of scribes.

Playlists are another powerful tool every writer needs in their branding and marketing arsenal. They show up more frequently in you tube search results and they empower a visitor to delve deeper into your world when they discover a video they enjoy. Playlists also enable you to feature multiple videos in a clean and compelling design rather than just embedding video players across a web template or sales page.

How about ‘a day in the life of series’? Do you like the web page bios about your favorite artists that describe their typical day? It gives you an idea of how they have gotten where they are (where you want to be). It also helps you feel another step closer into their world. Interview other artists in your field or similar ones to lend motivation and education to your readers.
Have you ever paid attention to your favorite song lyrics piping through the radio? Notice the rhyming cadence? It is not always an exact letter for letter match but they sound similar enough. I was not gifted with singing ability but if you were so fortunate, then set your poems to music and perform them. Nothing captures emotion, talent, expertise, personality, and image all in one unique bundle like video.
