ANNOUNCEMENT - P THRU Z OF MY BEST SELLING AUTHOR SERIES WILL BE CONTINUED IN AN EBOOK IN SEPTEMBER! STAY TUNED FOR MORE EXCITING ADVICE ON HOW TO BE A WRITER NOW NOT SOMEDAY!
Recently, my horoscope said, if you have a challenging dilemma that you're having a difficult time moving past, write about it in detail and then move on and focus on the positive of the situation. Now I'm not an astrological advocate but I occasionally read them for kicks and this was one of those rare occasions when it hit home because there is a work/personal issue that's been weighing on my mind. So I thought, I should be able to scribe my feelings into a notebook. Cheaper than therapy, quicker than involving anyone else in conversation, and hey, provides blog material that may help someone else...all around win, right?
I poured my heart out onto the pages hoping for closure, contentment, peace of mind, and ultimately happiness with the knowledge that I'd made the right decision. I must say I've never really grasped the concept of journal writing. How does that offer solutions? But I am discovering that when you put words out into the universe there is a force that's listening and one that can provide you with answers.
Here's what I learned from this experiment:
1. You may have to ask more than once. Be patient (a work in progress for me) but the solution is there.
2. Best to practice this exercise before bed and ask "self" to work on this overnight.
3. It's good to release nagging thoughts from your brain and writing them down does help the process.
4. When you clean out mental clutter you make room for new ideas and exciting opportunities, which in many cases, is a confirmation that you're on the right track.
5. Regular "therapeutic" writing can lead to great fiction stories. Change the names and circumstances enough and you could have a nice little collection of short stories to post on your blog or www.ezinearticles.com.
Journal writing does seem to be a healthy expression of overcoming obstacles and moving on. So the next time you're stalled by a problem or difficult decision, whip out a notebook and spill all the sordid details on paper. Don't critique or analyze. Just freestyle your feelings, questions, opinions, whatever pops into your mind onto the paper and see what develops. Remember, it may not happen all at once. It takes some practice to open up your mind to this type of solution searching. Just relax and believe that the universe is there to support you!
Please report back after you try this exercise OR if you're a pro and already have perfected this mental method, do share your experiences!
